Under the direction of the school administration, the School Psychologist will assist in the identification, evaluation and remediation of students. They will meet with students individually or in group sessions and frequently work with administrators, classroom teachers, school counselors, parents, and community groups. They will provide responsive services, guidance curriculum, and system support to address student needs. They will use data and ongoing program evaluation to ensure that student needs and school goals are met.
Support and promote the mission and values of Merit Preparatory Academy Work closely with school counseling and special education teams to reach yearly goals Work with 7th-12th grade students Testing and evaluation of students to determine special education eligibility Helping to create and implement behavior intervention plans (BIP) Track and monitor social emotional goals per 504’s and IEP’s 504 coordinator - coordinates 504 meetings, plans, and track student progress Listen to concerns about academic, emotional or social problems Help students process their problems and plan goals and action Promote positive behaviors Meet with parents and teachers to discuss learning, behavioral, familial and social problems and solutions - problem solving techniques and strategies Counsel parents on topics like substance abuse and communication Study and implement behavioral management techniques Research and implement learning programs Advise and help implement school disciplinary practices for troubled students Implement referral process for students needing counseling services Regularly manage and update school crisis plan Data analysis in multiple areas Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by administration and/or counseling team
Work Hours: Monday through Thursday 8:30am - 2:00pm (2020-2021 school year)
*Possibility for ¾ or full time position 2021-2022 school year
Education Requirements: Master’s Degree in School Psychology or Social Work Licensed School Psychologist or Licensed Social Worker
Half Time: $25,000 per year
