International Baccalaureate (IB) Specialist

Position Purpose
Performs difficult professional work providing a broad range of teaching services, providing teaching and/or training services to students, teachers and administrators; does related work as required.  Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Principal.


Essential Functions

  • Works with the instructional supervisors;
  • Coordinates and facilitates professional development for IB Program;
  • Coordinates IB curriculum development;
  • Recruits IB students for the program;
  • Creates IB course schedule;
  • Organizes IB Advisory Board and attends regional meetings;
  • Performs related tasks as required.

Equipment
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the International Baccalaureate program.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Works in standard office and school building environments.
                
Qualifications Profile
Must possess a current Virginia Teaching License.

Education
  • Must have a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A Master's degree is preferred.
Experience
  • Must have a minimum of 3+ years of successful teaching experience.
  • Must have experience teaching IB.
  • Instructional leadership experience is preferred.
Terms of Employment:
  • Salary Range:  $54,000 - $90,455
  • Contract:          12 Month
  • Benefits:           Employer Portion Paid Retirement, Life Insurance, Contribution to Medical Insurance, Personal Leave and Sick Leave
FLSA Status:       Exempt
