Position Type: FLSA Exempt 

Location:  Prince Edward School Board Office

Reports to:  Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction

Summary:  To provide leadership, staff development and instructional support as a liaison between the school and district remote learning initiative.

Essential duties and responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned.)

1. Coordinates the division-wide remote learning management system (LMS).
2. Acts as a liaison between vendors, service providers, staff, and students regarding distance/remote learning systems, courses, programs, services, and applications. 
3. Coordinates training on applicable LMS utilization.
4. Delivers front-end instructional design assistance and maintenance for LMS course content, as needed. 
5. Promotes model instructional practices for remote learning and the role of technology in the classroom.
6. Provides support in the implementation and day-to-day operation of online learning systems, electronic resources, and course offerings utilized across the division.
7. Provides primary help desk technical support for end-users on division LMS and other online learning systems.
8. Works to resolve technical issues, respond to data requests, and elevate high priority issues to the appropriate supports within the division or with vendors.
9. Monitors the implementation of distance learning across all schools.
10. Consults with administrators, staff, and technology services personnel to determine current and anticipated training needs related to the use of technology and the LMS.
11. Creates technical documents in the form of end-user reference guides, video tutorials, and multimedia visual aids for teachers, students and parents. 
12. Develops tutorials, surveys, and processes to expand distance learning resources. 
13. Researches and works to meet current online educational trends as it relates to online learning systems.
14. Maintains knowledge of programs, enrollment, grading processes, and technology initiatives of the division. 
15. Oversees compliance with district policies, success of virtual instructional programs, and the operation of virtual learning opportunities. 
16. Collaborates in the evaluation, selection and implementation of instructional technology materials and software.
17. Communicates regularly with division schools, teachers, and other district instructional staff working in virtual learning environments. 
18. Oversees compliance with division policies, success of virtual instructional programs, and the operation of virtual learning opportunities.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

1. Must possess a valid Virginia teaching license, advanced degree in curriculum and instruction or equivalent (preferred)
2. Must possess knowledge and skills in the use and operation of various online/distance learning interfaces; basic computer skills including familiarity with word processing,
    database, spreadsheet, email and webpages.
3. Experience delivering and integrating technology in instructional programs for PreK-12 students.
4. Experience in training others to use learning management systems or related technologies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

Knowledge of learning management system operations; knowledge of online program management; ability to plan and coordinate the appropriate uses of learning
management systems for student and teacher use; ability to develop long-term goals and objectives for the implementation of learning management systems; ability
to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make recommendations for improvements; ability to evaluate requests for changes and/or updates to currently installed
technology to support learning management systems; ability to communicate effectively with leadership, teachers, students, and parents; ability to train other how
learning management systems can be used for remote learning opportunities. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

1. Five-year or ten-year renewable license
2. A valid Virginia driver’s license

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.  Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.

Terms of Employment

Twelve-month employment (244 days).  Salary based on the Teacher Salary Schedule.

Evaluation

Performance of the position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Prince Edward County School Board’s policy on evaluation of
professional personnel.
