*Spectrum Academy is the premier charter school that specializes in working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. About 85% of our student body receives special education services.

*Our classrooms are a hybrid of the mainstream and resource models found at typical schools. Our teachers are all required to work with students who may or may not be receiving special education services, provide services from student IEPs, and support High School IEP case managers with IEP assessments and IEP goal data gathering.

Overview and Objective:

The Spectrum Academy CTE Teacher is is responsible for providing quality CTE instruction in High School that meets state and federal regulations. They are an essential member of the MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) team who effectively collaborates with special educators, related services specialists, and the instructional coach to support students with appropriate tier 1 and tier 2 supports. The classes taught are Woods 1, Woods 2, Robotics 1, CAD Mechanical Design 1, CAD Mechanical Design 2, Engineering Tech., Manufacturing Tech.

They are an efficient and organized educator who designs effective tier 1 instruction while providing IEP accommodations and supporting tier 2 in class instruction. They follow formative and summative student progress data procedures to inform each tier of academic, social, or behavior instruction and support. They are an essential member of student IEP teams as a classroom teacher and as an advisory/homeroom case manager. They are motivated members of the school culture which values student progress at all levels They work with the school team to provide the general education and special education services that our students are entitled to.

Duties may include, but not limited to the following:

collect and monitor tier 1 instructional data to inform content progression. collect and monitor social/behavioral progress data for all students. provide instruction that meets the needs of students accommodations monitor and ensure sped service minutes are being provided for advisory caseload consult with special educators on accommodations and differentiation. draft IEPs for advisory caseload as supported by Special Education Mentors. collaborate with the SPED coordinator and administration on IEP compliance. modify regular curricula as needed. collaborate with related services in providing cross discipline service. supervise and assign instructional and support tasks to paras. implements the assigned program of study. fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning. uses instructional strategies that increase student learning and maximize time on task. develops and implements Individual Education Programs (IEPs) per school policy. monitor student progress towards achieving objectives and goals on the IEPs. communicates effectively with the educational community on a regular basis. maintains and upgrades professional skills. maintains professional work habits. promotes and maintains positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships. adheres to the teacher code of conduct. performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal and the Academic Director.
