Student Support Specialist
To work collaboratively with school administration, staff and teachers in the planning and implementing of the school’s culture and discipline based programs and procedures. To lead the school intervention team. To lead in the development and implementation of the school transition and safety plans, inclusive of all state recommendations and requirements. To ensure that all school procedures relating to attendance and tardiness are followed and documented, leading to appropriate and required actions for students and families. To liaise with parents to keep them informed regarding any issues relating to their child’s behaviors for learning. To maintain all documentation related to student discipline and support. Research and cultivate potential community partnerships in alignment with school mission, programming and needs. Regularly monitor and recommend adjustments to procedures, programs and services as needed to maximize effectiveness and impact. To work collaboratively across teams and departments in service of the school’s mission and vision and in support of school administration. To serve as a member of the school leadership team and other collaborative planning teams. To assist with the planning and execution of school events as needed. To be part of student supervision as needed inclusive of but not limited to before-school, teacher breaks, lunch, and after-school. To induct new students and families. To assist as requested during professional learning opportunities and meetings. To ensure a consistent and high level of school to family communication. To assist in the development and execution of grant related funding opportunities. To manage tasks related to the recruitment and retention of qualified staff. To act as the school based Dean of Students. To manage and evaluate school support staff in collaboration with the principal. To work in collaboration with the school counselor and administration to complete all required state level reporting.
