Description
Maintenance Worker
Position Function:
Ensures that all facilities have the necessary supplies; performs furniture repairs in a timely manner for the efficient operation of the program; manages use of chemicals in and around facilities; handles all safety and fire inspections. Performs skilled maintenance work in order to ensure the efficient, economical, timely, and appropriate maintenance of all school facilities. Performs related duties and general maintenance work as required.

Salary: $42,361 - $65,714 (Commensurate with Experience)

Essential Functions:
Equipment
Uses hand tools of trade and related power equipment, snow blowers, shovels, power mower, hand tools etc.
Safety Requirements
Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment used in the performance of duties.
Wears appropriate safety gear, including masks.
Must comply with school district's chemical hygiene program and follow MSDS sheets.
Travel Requirements
Travel between schools, or between schools and central office required.

Essential Functions:
- Repair desks, tables, chairs, and other school furniture and equipment.
- Perform all fire inspections and track/record all facility fire drills.
- Perform safety inspections and report observable problems to the Director of Operations.
- Arrange for the repair of technical equipment by external specialists.
- Maintain a computerized inventory of parts, cleaning and other supplies.
- Manage pesticide and defoliant programs in accordance with regulations for the use of chemicals.
- Prepare and manage a budget for the purchase of division and school maintenance supplies and submit such to the Director of Operations.
- Participate in training programs that will upgrade skills and meet all continuing professional education requirements.
- Submit regular reports to the Director of Operations relative to repairs, inventor, and chemical applications.
- Report observable problems in the facilities to the Supervisor for scheduling.
- Participate in an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair.
- Report supply needs, areas in need of repair, and other problems promptly to the supervisor or building administrator.
- Knowledge of the methods, tools, and materials used in building and mechanical maintenance work.
- Awareness of computer and other high tech operating or control systems; ability to use a computer preferred.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to work cooperatively as a team.
- Ability to be courteous and helpful.
- Perform such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Director of Operations. Take part in training on the use of equipment, cleaning procedures, and blood borne pathogens.
- Any additional duties as assigned by the building principal or supervisor.
- Performs general cleaning, and repair work, particularly during school vacations.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.

- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Ability to describe orally or in writing cleaning, maintenance or repair problems as needed.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
- Ability to work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
- Ability to work above ground from ladders and automatic lifts.
- Ability to perform work according to standard procedures and schedule set forth by supervisor(s).

Qualifications Profile:
- Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.
- High school diploma or GED
- Certificate of health signed by a licensed physician indicating physical ability to perform maintenance tasks
- Minimum three (3) years experience in repair and maintenance of furniture and equipment
- Training and certification in the use of chemicals and related regulations
- Ability to use computer and manage inventories
