Library Media Specialist - Elementary

Frederick County Public Schools, VA is seeking a Library Media Specialist for Indian Hollow Elementary School. Frederick County Public Schools, VA is located in the Shenandoah Valley, just 65 miles west of Washington, D.C. Candidates must be eligible for, or hold, a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Library Media PreK-12. Candidates must be highly proficient in applying the principles of curriculum planning, learning and teaching as they relate to the role of the library media specialist. Candidates must be proficient in selecting, evaluating, organizing and processing instructional materials and equipment; in the production and use of a variety of media (print and nonprint); and in organizing, managing and evaluating media programs. Must have an understanding and knowledge of the skills and processes of the issues surrounding ethical access and use of information, including copyright, intellectual freedom, privacy and security. Hands on experience with circulation and collection analysis preferred.

Candidates must provide an inviting environment in the library media center that promotes reading and research; have the ability to recognize and respond to individual student differences; and be able to work in a collaborative and cooperative manner.

The salary range is $42,500-$82,099 (salary scale 20-21).
