Indian Education - Native American Studies Teacher

Position Summary: As a Native American Studies teacher in secondary schools at Tulsa Public Schools, you’ll be a bridge and a mentor to foster growth and understanding of Native American history, culture, and traditions for students. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure each of your students masters the objective of each lesson set forth by the curriculum provided by the district’s office of Indian education. This will be accomplished through thoughtful planning, implementing best practices, participation in professional  development,and other sources curated from tribal nations and resources and aligned to The Tulsa Way, the Title VI program, and the Johnson O’Malley program. A growth-mindset and a desire to receive actionable feedback will ensure you are prepared to meet the rigorous demands of educating students in our diverse district and supporting students in fostering an understanding and, for some, an identity and heritage education grounded in tribal roots.
