|The special education teacher creates a learning environment that inspires personal growth; communicates effectively with colleagues and other members of the team; develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with learning disabilities; evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives; follows State mandated due-process procedures; and functions as IEP manager to assigned students.|

|Position is responsible for support staff and classroom management including students with a wide range of academic needs and abilities to quickly adapt for maintaining positive classroom environment. Work environment may fluctuate between high-paced and quiet moments requiring the teacher to maintain calm, caring demeanor. Physical requirements could include lifting up to 50 lbs., frequently walking through classroom and frequent interruptions.|
Sterling is located in Logan County in the Northeastern corner of Colorado on Interstate 76 alongside the Platte River. Having the largest population, approximately 13,900, in Logan County and much of the surrounding area, Sterling offers shopping, restaurants, numerous parks, a recreation center, access to medical care and is located near North Sterling Reservoir. Sterling is approximately 1 1/2 hours from Denver International Airport and 2 hours from Denver and the front range (I-25 corridor).
