Description

Job Duties:

Model the Athlos culture Participate in and provide professional development Communicate with parent/guardians and the community professionally Advise the executive director and school board on all legal issues related to special education policies, procedures, and services Advise parents and provide information regarding special education and related service provisions Collaborate with Title 1 teachers and English language teachers to ensure special services cohesion and fidelity Serve as a consultant to teachers in matters of classroom management, teaching methods, and general school procedures Attend all IEP meetings Supervise all state and federal funds for special education programming Supervise all policies and procedures for special education programs Coordinate and prioritize work assignments as needed to meet student needs Supervise and monitor the implementation of all IEP services Secure and monitor contract personnel as needed for the provision of psychological services, speech therapy services, occupational therapy, physical therapy and related services Review and revise policies and procedures for the implementation of individual accommodations, modifications, and interventions for monitoring special education and related services Research additional grant/funding source opportunities and submit for consideration Coordinate student testing and ensure necessary accommodations are implemented Ensure faculty and staff are well versed in all requirements to implement student IEP and 504 Plans Support teachers in the intervention process by being a resource to provide research-based academic and social intervention information Monitor certification, licensure, and insurance are appropriate for special education staff and paraprofessionals in conjunction with the Human Resource Specialist Monitor all budgetary submissions and maintenance of revisions to grants in conjunction with the office manager In conjunction with the behavior specialist, support student behavior plans, ensure consistent follow-through, collaborate to problem solve student transitions, behavioral concerns and social anxieties, and coordinate classroom meetings Coordinate speech, occupational and physical therapy schedules and information sharing Support school-wide vision and hearing screenings with licensed public health nurse Provide interventions and direct student instruction on a case-by-case basis as the need arises Maintain open communication with teachers, parents, and outside agencies Other duties as assigned
