Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher
Must hold a license issued by any agency.
The license position area must be in Family & Consumer Sciences (Home Econ).
The license must be in one of the following grades: 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th.
The license status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program. Expired certifications will be considered.
Good knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialty(ies) to which assigned; good knowledge of adolescent growth and development or, if applicable, adult learning theory; good knowledge of Prince William County Public Schools (PWCPS) curriculum and program of studies related to assignments and public school mission, goals, and organization; ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned; ability to establish and maintain effective relationship with students, peers, and parents; skill in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills.
If teaching foreign language, proficiency in oral and written communications in that language; if teaching choral music, ability to demonstrate proper techniques (singing) is highly desirable; if teaching instrumental music classes, proficiency in one or more musical instruments; for both choral and instrumental music teachers, excellent hearing and ability to distinguish pitch and tone variations; if teaching in a vocational trade, including business trades, journey-level proficiency in that trade is required with on-the-job journey, lead, or supervisory experience highly desirable
