Salary Range: $34,979-$41,179

Job Goal:
To provide a developmentally appropriate instructional program that meets the needs of students and is compatible with the mission and goals of the Early Childhood program.
Essential Functions:  Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee the daily operations of preschool and related programs and provide support to Caliche Little Buffs.
  2. Coordinate development of annual budget and follow accounting purchasing procedures.
  3. Coordinate and maintain Human Services license for the preschool programs.
  4. Act as liaison of the District to Colorado Department of Education and Colorado Human Services.
  5. Develop, maintain and promote good relationships among various community groups and school patrons.
  6. Maintain a well-grounded philosophy of family centered, family directed, community based, inclusive approaches to supportive systems for families with very young children.
  7. Maintain on-going evaluation of existing programs and recommend changes in keeping with Human Services and state regulations.
  8. Compare and coordinate various components of the District’s preschool program including educational programming, recruitment, provider selection, in-service and program assessment; meet and maintain requirements of funding sources (i.e., Colorado Preschool Program [CPP]).
  9. Coach classroom instruction and provide guidance.
  10. Direct the enrollment process, following guidelines outlined by the state, identifying CPP eligibility and assist with Child Find.
  11. Provide leadership to staff, parents and teachers, working cooperatively and positively to provide a learning environment in which students may reach their potential.
  12. Work closely with early childhood special education teacher for inclusion of IDEA students into the program.
  13. Facilitate the work of the School District Early Education Council and ensure family involvement and support.
  14. Participate in activities that improve the preschool program as well as attend conferences, in-services and workshops to increase professional knowledge.
  15. Understand and apply District policies and implement academic curriculum in conjunction with state preschool mandates.
  16. Provide annual CPP evaluation and state application.
  17. Participate in and submit timely reporting requirements (i.e., October student count).
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  1. Possess Director Certification from the Colorado Department of Human Services.
  2. Minimum of five years’ experience in preschool education.
  3. Good working knowledge of Human Services licensing requirements and Colorado Preschool Program requirements.
  4. In-depth understanding and experience in child development, early childhood education, preschool curriculum, data collection and data driven decision making.
Sterling is located in Logan County in the Northeastern corner of Colorado on Interstate 76 alongside the Platte River. Having the largest population, approximately 13,900, in Logan County and much of the surrounding area, Sterling offers shopping, restaurants, numerous parks, a recreation center, access to medical care and is located near North Sterling Reservoir. Sterling is approximately 1 1/2 hours from Denver International Airport and 2 hours from Denver and the front range (I-25 corridor).
RE-1 Valley School District has two high schools, one middle school, one junior high school, three elementary schools and two preschools and serves approximately 2,200 students in the Sterling and Iliff/Crook areas, employing about 500 staff. RE-1 Valley School District utilizes a 4-day school week schedule (Tuesday-Friday).
