Speech/Language Pathologist Assistant
Student Services (District-wide)
177 scheduled working days (8.5 hours/day), 4-day school week (Tues-Fri)
Salary Range: $41,664-$53,780

Essential Functions
Provide diagnostic services for children (preschool through grade 12) referred through the special services department.  Specific parameters assessed (besides administering audiometric screening when needed) include:
 
- Articulation
- Language development - receptive and expressive
- Fluency and voice
 
All students should be evaluated using the Speech and Language Guidelines set out by the CDE. Students who meet the moderate to severe guidelines should receive service as indicated in the child’s IEP.
 
Outline a specific program for each child placed in the speech/language program.

 
Serve as a member of the MTSS, staffing, and building level teams.

Serve in a consultative role for the classroom teachers - answering specific questions on normal development.

Populations served include all disability categories.

Children are served in both a "pull out" and “push in” model of programming - amount of time and frequency of the sessions is based on the child's presenting needs.
Sterling is located in Logan County in the Northeastern corner of Colorado on Interstate 76 alongside the Platte River. Having the largest population, approximately 13,900, in Logan County and much of the surrounding area, Sterling offers shopping, restaurants, numerous parks, a recreation center, access to medical care and is located near North Sterling Reservoir. Sterling is approximately 1 1/2 hours from Denver International Airport and 2 hours from Denver and the front range (I-25 corridor).
 
RE-1 Valley School District has two high schools, one middle school, one junior high school, three elementary schools and two preschools and serves approximately 2,200 students in the Sterling and Iliff/Crook areas, employing about 500 staff. RE-1 Valley School District utilizes a 4-day school week schedule (Tuesday-Friday).
