1.0 FTE - 188 Days - 193 Days for New Hires

Projected Start Date 7/27/2020

To prepare students for either job entry level positions in the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Industry or additional appropriate post-secondary training.

B.S. or higher in Food Service Management or equivalent.
Graduated from an accredited Technical School with Major in Culinary or related field.
Must have, or be able to obtain a Current Colorado Teaching Certificate/License with Endorsements in Secondary Consumer and Family Studies or Secondary Food Service.
Must have, or obtain within six months of hiring, a Colorado Vocational Credential, endorsed in the Secondary Food Production, Management, Service.

  • Prefer 3 years recent combined education and work experience in food service industry, with verification and references, which includes management responsibilities and restaurant experience in a hotel, gourmet style establishment, baking facility, or teaching/training experience including instructing, and/or successful lab/restaurant experience in a Culinary Arts Program in above listed areas.
  • Have ability and experience in working with a team.  Must have experience communicating and working with colleagues and support staff on a continual basis and coordinating activities with other members/staff of an organization.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Prefer experience with budgeting and financial management in a business setting.
  • Prefer experience in managing a restaurant and be able to deal with the public, staff, and students.
  • Must have a current valid First Aid /CPR card, or be able to obtain by September 2012.
  • Prefer experience in working with special populations and accommodating their needs.
  • Computer experience including Microsoft Office suite, POS, Outlook, etc., as they relate to the culinary business and teaching profession.
  • Will support the student learning as outlined by the Colorado Community Colleges System.
  • Collaborate with the Special Education Department concerning accommodations for special needs students.
  • ollaborate with other instructors in the Culinary Arts Program in the areas of curriculum, classroom instruction, restaurant management, advisory committees, and youth organization activities (FCCLA and ACF).
  • Keeping current with changes in the culinary industry.
  • Coordinate the approval and scheduling of banquets and functions, which support the instructional program.  May require after school and evening work hours.
  • Work to ensure that appropriate graduates and non-graduates are referred to resources for networking, post-secondary training and food service jobs.
  • Collaborate on the appropriate management responsibilities of budgeting, bookkeeping, financial planning, reports, procurement, and other financial responsibilities.
  • Coordinate with other instructors and the administration in the areas of student attendance, discipline, and classroom management.
  • Attend all faculty meetings and any special school related functions as they pertain to the Culinary Arts Program
  • Keep up-to-date equipment inventory and collaborate with the appropriate administrator regarding equipment repair.
  • As a team member, co-ordinate the utilization, maintenance, improvement and security of the Culinary Arts facility.
