WORK SCHEDULE:                190 days
The District MTSS Lead Teacher plays an important role in the implementation and maintenance of the MTSS framework. The District MTSS Lead Teacher helps schools to integrate assessment and intervention within a school-wide multi-tiered system of supports to maximize and accelerate student achievement and behavior. The District MTSS Lead Teacher supports a cluster of four elementary schools under the supervision of the District Literacy & MTSS Coordinator.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Maintains an up-to-date, in-field certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission; salary and length of contract to be established by the Board of Education.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: To plan for and provide instructional support via professional learning, coaching, modeling, technical guidance, and best practice resources and materials in the area of GA’s Tiered Systems of Support

  • Assist school teams in using state- and district-established criteria to determine when students need interventions
  • Support school teams in using student data/evidence to identify student needs and target skills and identify progress monitoring tools in order to develop high-quality intervention plans
  • Frequently monitor the quality and effectiveness of intervention plans and provide coaching/feedback as needed
  • Promote collaborative team processes
  • Design, implement, and support ongoing professional learning experiences for the implementation of evidence-based interventions and instructional strategies
  • Plan, observe, and, as needed, model classroom interventions and coach school-based MTSS Leads and teachers in best practices for fidelity of implementation
  • Ensure fidelity of intervention implementation
  • Collect and analyze school data, including subgroups, for District level reporting at benchmark times
  • Support MTSS teams to use data to make instructional decisions regarding interventions for students
  • Maintain resources for school-based MTSS Leads and teachers related to Tier 2 and Tier 3
  • Design and facilitate district-wide professional learning for schools, clusters, and/or district teams
  • Ensure that interventions and progress monitoring data and related records are properly documented in the district’s platform
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders as needed to support the academic and behavioral growth of students (including but not limited to: school teams, Equity & Student Support, and other members of Curriculum & Instruction)
  • Provide oversight and guidance for the cluster schools’ accurate reporting of FTE
  • Provide coaching and feedback to school based MTSS teams
  • Demonstrate a racial equity lens in all aspects of your area of responsibility
  • Provide prompt attention to stakeholder inquiries and/or complaints
  • Provide courteous support/advice to team members, staff, students, parents and other stakeholders in person, via telephone, and via email
  • Build synergistic relationships with school teams, Curriculum & Instruction team, and Equity & Student Support team

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises classroom, students, paraprofessional (if applicable), and volunteers.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform       each essential duty satisfactorily.   • 5 years classroom teaching experience in elementary
  • Valid Georgia Educator Certification in teaching area
  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field of education
  • Knowledgeable about Georgia’s Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
  • Experience implementing research- and evidence-based Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions for students
  • Experience facilitating professional learning experiences around instruction and evidenced-based interventions
  • Ability to analyze progress monitoring and assessment data to inform instructional decisions and to teach others to do that
  • Experience with a wide variety of curriculum, instruction, and assessment strategies that reflect current research on best practices
  • Experience working with a diverse team of school-based and district office staff, general and special education staff, administrators, teachers, and parents
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Master’s Degree in applicable field of education
  • Georgia SST Endorsement
  • Experience working with racially and economically diverse student population(s)
  • Experience effectively addressing the opportunity gap via interventions and other classroom and/or school-wide supports
  • Experience with Infinite Campus
  • Familiarity with state standards and curriculum frameworks
  • Experience managing the analysis and presentation of data and progress of data-driven initiatives for leadership team(s)
EVALUATION: Performance of this job shall be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of certified personnel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: To perform the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, or hear. Lifting up to 30 pounds may be required on an occasional basis. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required of this job include close vision and distance vision.
