A position has been declared open in the Weber School District at the Weber Innovation Center for a Career & Technical Education(CTE) Work - Based Learning Coordinator. Lane Placement: CTE Coordinator- (Teacher Salary-plus 31 days) This position is for 8 hr/180 days.

Position Explanation: Work Based Learning Coordinator coordinates and directs the Career and Technology Education (CTE) comprehensive work-based learning program. The person is responsible for implementation of the WBL programs in the high schools, feeder junior high schools and feeder elementary schools by providing opportunities for students to see how classroom instruction connects to the world of work and future career opportunities.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate, manage, and deliver placement for job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships and employment for students and provide support for all high schools equally. • Oversee WBL budgets and submit required reports in a timely manner. · Effectively communicate with administrators, counselors, teachers, students, and parents about CTE Programs and opportunities, including pathways, concurrent enrollment, and internships. · Ability to network and collaborate at all levels is essential · Organize CTE open houses and participate in parent-teacher conferences, parent nights, CTSO events, to connect industry with teachers, students & parents. · Attend WBL regional pathways meetings, summer & winter UACTE state conferences, coordinator meetings, and national conferences related to work-based learning. · Assist with career development of students through professional development of teachers in employability skills & interviewing skills. · Maintain a current and expanding list of businesses/industries participating in WBL.

Qualifications:

• 3 Years work experience required (preferred experiences in education and/or business) · Level 2 licensed Educator Preferred but not required · Complete state Work Based Learning training within 2 years of hire · Ability to develop, supervise, and complete projects. · Ability to work independent of supervision, be self-motivated and flexible in work hours. · Excellent computer skills using spreadsheet, presentation software, desktop publishing, and word processing programs. Prepare, review, & edit written materials for WBL. · Develop & implement career exploration activities/curriculum in grades K-12 working with principals, teachers, and staff to set up job shadows, internships, guest speakers, career fairs, and career days in elementary, junior high, and high school. · Proficient at social media and websites to promote Work Based Learning program awareness, expansion of WBL internship opportunities for all students. · Coordinate and participate in screening, interviewing, selecting and criteria for students’ WBL experiences. · Excellent communication and organizational skills, work as a team, and collaborate. · Organize and maintain a current Advisory Committee which includes contact information. Supervise & coordinate meetings and keep accurate records. · Knowledge of work-based learning initiatives to include collaboration and positive relationships with counselors, educators, Division Workforce Services, and industry. · Outstanding interpersonal skills and able to build trust with parents, teachers, students, administrators, & industry, making frequent presentations to recruit and promote WBL. · Ability to collect data, organize, and analyze progress, and information related to student internships through industry, courses, and program alignment to align industry demand and student opportunities. Data may relate to OWTC, DWS, and pathways data/trends. · Other duties as assigned by the director

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS

· Deliver instruction/education and advise to students that actively engaged in meaningful and relevant learning experiences through presentations and education. · Recruit new businesses to provide quality WBL opportunities in high demand areas. · Provide program orientation for all incoming interns to ensure student accommodations are met and additional support is provided to ensure other qualify & are successful. · Collaborate effectively with high school CTE coordinators and serve as a liaison between school-based and industry-based opportunities aligning with school programs. · Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating and developing and expanding roles with business partnerships with Weber School District.
