The job of Child Nutrition Coordinator is to assist Child Nutrition employees in the successful and professional operation of developing menus and recipes, meeting the federally mandated nutritional needs of students.
Essential Functions Develops recipes/menus for the purpose of meeting federally mandated regulations. Assists with personnel process (e.g. interviewing, evaluating, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring adequate staffing to meet department objectives. Determines needs and trains personnel for the purpose of achieving success in the child nutrition program. Directs assigned personnel for the purpose of guiding the individuals in performing their functions in a safe and efficient manner. Implements menu plans for the purpose of meeting federally mandated daily nutritional requirements. Assists site operation managers for the purpose of providing safe and efficient food services at the assigned site/s in compliance with federally mandated nutritional requirements and health standards. Participates in meetings (e.g. workshops, inservice, vendors, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or receiving information. Prepares documentation (e.g. reports, menus, inventories, training materials, specifications, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information. Processes materials (e.g. applications, reports, specification, menu plans, and training) for the purpose of updating information and/or authorizing actions in compliance with established regulations. Responds to inquiries of students, staff and the public for the purpose of providing information and/or direction regarding the type and/or cost of meals. Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their successful work activities. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Must be able to operate standard office equipment; prepare and maintain accurate records; use of pertinent software application; and common office machines. Must have a knowledge of quality cooking, quantity cooking and presentation of foods. Should possess a high level of analytical and problem solving skills. Must have a knowledge of policies, regulations and/or laws that are pertinent to the Child Nutrition Program. Must be attentive to detail; meeting deadlines and schedules; ability or organize and prioritize work schedule; multi task, ability to adjust to emergency situations; and adapting to changing work priorities. Must possess personnel management skills such as maintaining confidentiality and communicating with diverse groups.
Education High School Diploma and/or additional college education in food and nutrition. Must be willing to become certified as a trainer for subjects such as serv safe and any other areas pertinent to the Child Nutrition Program. Must have experience in large quantity cooking in a food service organization.
