VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
HVACR Instructor (Part-time)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten month contract (part-time) REPORTS TO: Center Director
WORK HOURS: 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 Associates Degree or equivalent training in HVACR? Certification in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration
 Currently hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teacher’s License with appropriate endorsement (see 8VAC20-22-290)
 Five years of experience in the HVACR industry (a minimum of two years of experience within the last five years)
 Successful experience as an HVACR Instructor teaching adolescents

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 Demonstrate strong knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment related to an HVACR education program
 Plan instructional activities and implement appropriate learning strategies utilizing a variety of resource materials, multimedia, and computer technology to maximize student learning
 Demonstrate an ability to successfully differentiate instruction using a variety of teaching methods
 Develop and implement a rigorous, project-based curriculum resulting in successful skill attainment
 Evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner, maintaining appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation
 Demonstrate strong written, verbal, interpersonal and organization skills
 Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively with parents and families
 Participate in professional development activities, school activities, and staff meetings as required or assigned
 Demonstrate effective classroom management skills in creating a classroom environment that is engaging, motivating, and conducive to high level student learning
 Demonstrate effective knowledge of and compliance with policies, regulations, and guidelines associated with the operation and maintenance of HVACR equipment
 Establish and maintain a career and technical student organization and CTE Advisory Committee
 Perform related duties as assigned by the Director

SPECIFIC COURSE FUNCTIONS:
Teach all required competencies related to HVACR I (8503)
 Prepare all students to successfully obtain industry related credentials

EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with Bridging Communities Board of Control Policy.

SALARY: Based on 2020-2021 Teachers’ Salary Scale part-time position without benefits
