Description

We are looking for a DYNAMIC elementary teacher who can inspire and engage students in a place-based environmental education school, using the local community and environment to teach academic concepts, while emphasizing hands-on, real-world learning experiences. Our mission is to create a school that utilizes place-based environmental education to foster autonomous, life-long learning through knowledge of and responsibility for the environment. The successful candidate for this position will be an inspirational and passionate educator with the ability to deliver an inquiry-based, academic program. This educator will cultivate cognitive skills while guiding students to appreciate the arts, their environment, their community and to learn through work and play.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: •To effectively design a classroom and program that supports the academic needs of all learners •To possess an in depth understanding of the age group and a personality to support and guide students’ social and emotional development •To possess an ability to differentiate and individualize instruction and curriculum to meet all learning styles and abilities •To collaborate with the other teachers to effectively deliver a differentiated, project- and inquiry-based curriculum to early learners •To participate in the design, development, implementation and review of the curriculum •To participate in professional development training to further knowledge and proficiency in the teaching and learning process of early learners
