Must hold a license issued by Utah State Office of Education.
The license must be in one of the following types: Secondary Education (6-12) (Level 1), Secondary Education (6-12) (Level 2), Secondary Education (6-12) (Level 3), Secondary Education (6-12) (ARL).
The license position area must be in Reading Specialist.
The license must be in one of the following grades: 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th.
The license status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program.

Description

: identifies student reading levels and provides intervention strategies that are aligned to student needs and offers solutions to improve student reading levels. Administers and monitors ongoing assessments that support adjustments to core and intervention instruction for students. Must be able to build rapport with students in order to support those who may struggle with literacy skills. Works collaboratively with teachers, staff and administration to analyze data to address current performance gaps in student literacy and identifying specific strategies for improving outcomes for students. Works collaboratively with teachers, staff and administration to determine, set and monitor student, grade level, and school goals for literacy. Coordinates and delivers professional learning for teachers and staff targeted at improving primary and secondary literacy instruction and/or implementing reading interventions. Coordinates the school’s use of interactive literacy software (if applicable). Other related duties as assigned
