POSITION:  Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearingat .2-.4 FTE (Full Time Equivalency)

SALARY RANGE: Full Time Salary Range of $38,510 - $79,703 depending on experience and education; additional opportunities for extra-duty pay and tuition reimbursement.  Eligible for up to FIVE additional steps on the salary schedule as a hard to staff position. Amount prorated for part-time teachers.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
  • Minimum B. A. as a Special Services Provider – Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing.
  • Hold or be able to obtain a Colorado Special Services Provider License – Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing, from Colorado Department of Education (CDE).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides direct and indirect consultation services to administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, students, parents and related agencies
  • Consolidate assessment information/reports and make recommendations to the staffing team members for appropriate educational programming
  • Coordinate services for all identified Hearing Impaired children
  • Develop appropriate goals and objectives based on student strengths and needs with special education team
  • Attend school staffing’s, in-services and other school meetings, when appropriate
  • Facilitate any home/school communications
  • Provide awareness of hearing loss, camps for hearing impaired children, parent advocate meetings, etc., to each families and school districts
  • Refer students to appropriate specialist, when needed
  • Review overall program and equipment annually and complete requests for new equipment, supplies and repairs (current equipment includes: FM systems, audiometers, audiometer/tympanometer, otoscopes)
  • Attend professional meetings
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor(s)
  • May be asked to supervise classified staff

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Assignment starting date is August 1, 2020. School begins August 17, 2020.
  • All contracts/agreements for employment of personnel shall be subject to the approval of the Board of Education.  Direct deposit of payroll is a condition of employment.
  • No smoking is allowed in any Weld County School District Re 8 buildings.
  • Selected applicant must comply with the District's Drug-Free Workplace policy.
