EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Required:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current Colorado Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement and requirements
  • Criteria of DOT Physical for drivers
  • Insurable in accordance with the district’s insurance carrier criteria
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR training
  • CDE Inspector Qualification Certificate
  • Heavy duty break certification
Preferred:
  • Two years’ experience in all facets of repair for heavy and light duty vehicles
  • One-year automotive electrical experience
  • School bus body maintenance experience beneficial
 

JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
Performs fleet maintenance and repair on all school district buses, utility vehicles, and related equipment under the direction of the fleet foreman.
 
Essential Functions
  • Performs CDE-required vehicle inspections.
  • Performs and assists in vehicle road tests.
  • Performs all levels of vehicle maintenance on all light, medium and heavy-duty applications.
  • Performs minor vehicle body repairs.
  • Responds to service calls as requested.
  • Performs arc, acetylene, and wire feeding welding.
  • Assists in emissions testing procedures.
  • Assists in extreme weather and emergency situations.
  • Follows instructions in repair manuals to repair vehicles as specified.
  • May be required to perform school bus driver duties / drive route.
  • May be responsible for two-way radio communication during shift.
  • May assist in training provided by the shop.
  • Keeps an up-to-date inventory of personal tools.
  • Performs routine repairs on perimeter fencing, compound and buildings.
  • May design and fabricate materials related to vehicles and/or facility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • May be required to work additional hours as needed.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities:  None.
 
Work Environment/ Physical Demands
Ability to sit for long periods of time, numerous distractions, visual, auditory and ambulatory acuity important
Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds
