POSITION: Application Specialist for Weld RE-4 School District. Position begins 05/04/2020. 215 days per year, 8.0 hours per day. This is a benefited position.
SALARY RANGE 19: $23.24 - $28.34 per hour based on work experience. (Based on 2019/20 salary schedule; subject to change).
REPORTS TO: Director of Technology
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for supporting, analyzing and troubleshooting district applications with particular emphasis on the district's Student Information System (SIS) and state reporting (including student pupil count).
High school diploma or equivalent
High degree of analytical, troubleshooting, and decision making skills;
Extensive proficiency in current popular office productivity software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases;
Experience with web-based applications;
High degree of communication skills;
High degree of organization skills;
Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, multi-task, and problem solve.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science and/or business equivalent or commensurate training and work experience in information technology;
Two years of related work experience;
Previous experience with basic SQL scripting and programming;
Previous experience with SIS;
Previous experience populating databases using information from other systems;
Previous state reporting and/or audit experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prioritize workload and effectively communicate those priorities;
Application troubleshooting and support;Provide high quality support of assigned district applications for all end users through support lines and ticketing system;
Troubleshoot problems and identify bugs within applications and work with other Technology staff and external vendors’ support staff to resolve problems;
Support end users by providing training and assistance;
Plan for, and support, application patches, upgrades, or infrastructure setup. Assist with feasibility studies for new applications or new modules within existing applications;
Maintain data integrity;
Recommend policies to supervisor;
Document and share data best-practices with relevant parties;
Provide training and assistance to other employees who generate, enter or retrieve data;
Test and certify new releases of software to ensure data integrity and proper functionality;
Review data for accuracy and integrity;
Comprehensive data management using software/web-based applications associated with:
State and Federal reporting requirements as directed;
SIS, Web Content Management System (WCMS), Learning Management System (LMS) and/or other district applications;
Provide consultation and support to other district departments as it relates to district-wide and department-specific programs;
Application programming and interoperability;
Consult with administrators and end users using business / system analysis techniques and procedures, to determine data, reporting, or system functional specifications;
Use specifications to create basic SQL programs or scripts;
Work with external vendors to implement complex programs or scripts and ensure adherence to district specifications;
Work with responsible parties to assist them with accessing required data;
Provide data reports/summaries as required;
Maintain and update application-specific documentation to be used for both internal and end user reference. Develop and deploy instructional and training resources as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
Perform tasks at a computer terminal for long periods of time. Employee will perform repetitive tasks at a computer terminal, keyboard, and workstation. The employee may occasionally perform minimal lifting tasks.

Valid Colorado driver license.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
At-will employee. Work year and hourly rate to be established by Board of Education. Vacation/leave time/benefits will be established according to Board policy.
