Job Description: The qualified person will be responsible for instruction and overall academic support to students assigned in an online course through Weber School District. They will be able to make adjustments to the course based upon feedback from students, peers, and the Weber Online administrator throughout the year. They must have knowledge of Internet/web related technologies and its application to the online learning environment. They must provide an optimal learning environment for all stakeholders including students and parents. They must have the ability to maintain strong interpersonal relationships with all stakeholders in an online educational environment and must consistently use good oral and written communication skills with both students and parents to encourage student success. They must utilize accurate record keeping techniques and demonstrate proper English language usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary in this position. The qualified person must be able to problem solve and to utilize conflict resolution strategies to de-escalate difficult situations.
Essential Functions of the Weber Online Course Teacher/Curriculum Developer: Curriculum development skills Assessment development skills Adherence to Weber Online teacher assurances found at: https://docs.google.com/document/d/17miSJ-b_SpIIdcgQurSgi9PgPxOuluN2dGrwcC6dzKQ/edit Solving/troubleshooting basic technology issues of students Maps course topics, objectives and assignments into program designs to demonstrate that standards are met and assessment is achievable Updates of the course materials to reflect changes in law, regulation, philosophy, practice, student feedback, etc. Making phone calls to student’s parents Having online office hours Determining student’s development and progress Encourages student success Rating performances of students Providing quick and adequate feedback to students Contributes to a culture of learning Works well with other staff members Position Requirements: Current Utah Teaching Certificate in the position posted Demonstrated skills in a variety of educational technologies including learning management systems, curriculum databases, and web-based applications Excellent organizational skills Should have an experience in teaching Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills Willingness to work in an accelerated learning format and to work online with students on a daily basis Access to personal computer and broadband Internet services. Must have good oral and written communication skills Advanced computer skills Good interpersonal skills Must be attentive, patient and friendly toward students on the net
