TITLE: MAINTENANCE WORKER
OPEN: 01/06/2020 – 01/24/2020
 
SUMMARY
Performs the full range of maintenance duties associated with the construction and/or repair trades including the ability to work independently under general supervision, exercise judgment and initiative, and operate all equipment required to successfully perform assigned tasks.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Three years experience in performing building and equipment construction, maintenance and repair required.  Ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.  Possession of a valid driver’s license required.  Arizona State Driver’s License (Class D) required within 10 days of hire date.  Must not have accrued six (6) points against driver’s license within the past three years.  Any equivalent combination of education or experience that meets the minimum requirements will be accepted.  Lift test and FBI fingerprint background check required. 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
THE LIST OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS IS NOT EXHAUSTIVE AND MAY BE SUPPLEMENTED.

  • Assists in repairing and maintaining plumbing and/or irrigation systems and fixtures.
  • Assists in minor repair and maintenance of HVAC systems.
  • Assists in the minor repair of walls, ceilings and flooring systems using a variety of materials and methods.
  • Safely operates a variety of hand and power tools and equipment including sprayers, saws, drills, planers, routers and sanders.
  • Performs restorative maintenance on a variety of facilities and equipment associated with the construction trades.
  • Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical circuits and systems.
  • Performs heavy manual labor.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
  • Performs daily safety checks and maintains fluid levels on assigned vehicle(s).

    Keep work areas clean and orderly to ensure safety.
MENTAL TASKS
Oral and written communication skills.  Reads and comprehends.  Performs functions from written, graphic and oral instructions and from observing others.
PHYSICAL TASKS
Work involves the performance of duties where considerable physical exertion is required as a normal part of the job.  Assistance is normally available to perform unusually physically demanding tasks.   Work may involve lifting and carrying objects weighing as much as 75 pounds up to 50 yards as a regular part of the job.  Climbing, stooping, bending, reaching, walking and sitting for extended periods of time may be required as a normal part of the job.  Employees must not have any limitations of motion, and vision and hearing should be rated as acceptable to obtain the required driver’s license.  Verbal communicative ability may be required of public contact positions.
 
EQUIPMENT, AIDS, TOOLS, MATERIALS
Uses office equipment such as telephone, computers, fax machine and copier.  Operates a standard or automatic transmission motor vehicle.  Operates power driven machinery.    Uses the full range of power and hand tools associated with the construction and maintenance trades.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
Outdoor and indoor environment.  Exposure to noise.  Contact with employees, students, and the public.  Exposure to hazardous, noxious substances and fumes.  Exposure to low, medium, and high voltage electrical current. 
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   Twelve (12) Month
 
SALARY:  Placed on appropriate Salary Schedule according to experience and education.
 
EVALUATION:  Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Personnel.
