Lewis-Palmer School District 38 in Monument, CO, is looking for a part-time English Learner (EL) Tutor, 25-29 hours per week, beginning in January, 2020.  A current Colorado teaching license with a Culturally Linguistic Diverse Education (CLDE) endorsement is desirable. The EL Tutor will design or assist in the instruction of ELs at various schools in accordance with English Language Development standards. In addition to teaching individual EL students, this tutor will support regular classroom teachers, serve on collaborative teams, recommend appropriate testing accommodations for ELs, act as a liaison for EL families, act as advocate for EL students at school sites, monitor the progress of ELs who are being considered for exit status, administer WIDA placement and proficiency tests, and perform other related duties. Qualified candidates for this position must be familiar with federal and state laws concerning EL identification, placement, and programming as well as researched-based instruction for ELs. This position requires a lot of flexibility in the tutor's schedule. The tutor must be willing and able to increase or decrease hours as the populations of ELs changes and work accordingly to meet the needs of the district. This position works approx. 5 to 5.75 hours per day, Monday - Friday. There are no benefits with this position other than paying into PERA retirement. The hourly rate for this position is $15.50 for tutors with a Bachelor's degree in any field.  For holders of a Master's Degree or higher in an education field and/or a Colorado teaching license, the starting hourly rate is $20.50.  In order to be considered, you must complete the online application as soon as possible.  Hurry!  Applications will be reviewed as they are received.
