Technology Support Technician

 

Title: Technology Support Technician

Reports to: Director of Technology 

 

 

Job Summary:

The Technology Support Technician will provide tier one support for students and staff. Using Pennoyer School’s help desk ticketing system, the Technology Support Technician will complete support tickets and request supporting day-to-day technology operations. This position will also provide basic support and maintenance for Pennoyer’s server and network infrastructure.  Days and hours are flexible.

 

Areas of the Technology Support technician knowledge include, but are not limited to, general hardware, software, and network troubleshooting on Macintosh and Windows platforms. Knowledge of basic system administration tasks and web development are helpful. Additionally, the Technology Support Technician is expected to be knowledgeable of modern computing and mobile device resources.

 

Qualifications:

1.     Completed or enrolled in a college level program

2.    Proficient computer skills with completed coursework in computer science, or similar subjects

3.    Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to adapt in a dynamic technology environment

3.    Demonstrated skills in self-direction, resource organization, and follow-through

 

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Investigating, resolving, and documenting technical support issues and problems reported by students and staff 

  • Researching, evaluating, utilizing, and documenting a variety of technologies for current and future use that support maintaining and developing the many facets of the school’s network 

  • Supporting student iPad and Chromebook devices, including but not limited to: Remotely managing the OS and applications, repairing broken devices, and troubleshooting system errors.

  • Supporting teacher and staff desktops, laptops, and classroom media devices

  • Setup A/V and other technology for meetings and events

  • Supporting staff identity management, including the maintenance and creation of email addresses, ID cards, and internet access 

  • Maintaining regular communication with staff to the status of work orders and other projects

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Perform the physical tasks necessary to monitor, supervise and physically assist students throughout the school day during a variety of instructional activities. Must be able to function effectively in an active, loud environment.  Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment as circumstances require.
