Must hold a license issued by Virginia Department of Education.
The license must be in one of the following types: Collegiate Professional License, Provisional License.
The license position area must be in one of the following areas: American Sign Language, Deaf-Blind, Hearing Impairment, Intellectual Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, Mild/Moderate Disabilities, Physical Disabilities.
The license must be in one of the following grades: Preschool/Pre-K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th.
The license status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program. Expired certifications will be considered.

Description

The Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind in Staunton is seeking a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to provide classroom instruction for students with deafness and other disabilities and to assist students in developing life skills. The beginning date for this position is July 2020.

Responsibilities include: • Curriculum/SOL management and planning • Coordination and management of Independent Living Skills Curriculum • Instructional implementation • Classroom organization and management • Evaluation, reporting and recordkeeping • Communication and professional/community relations • Participation in staff development • Development of Individualized Educational Programs (IEP) • Collaborate in the scheduling of the work based training program • Monitor Student Progress through data collection • Modify instruction based on analysis of student data and performance
