A position has been declared open in the Weber School District at Freedom Elementary for a Playground / Sp Ed Aide. This position is for 4.50 hours per day, 9 months per year. Purpose Statement The job of Playground Aide was established for the purpose/s of providing for the safety and welfare of students during non classroom activities; minimizing the frequency or severity of harmful incidents; and communicating observations and/or incidents that may impact a general well being of students and school personnel.
Essential Functions • Facilitates games among students (e.g. hands out equipment, balls, etc.) for the purpose of providing age appropriate activities.
• Intervenes in potential emergency situations for the purpose of minimizing disruptions of playground activities and/or injury to involved students.
• Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. rest rooms, playgrounds, cafeteria, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of students.
• Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g. accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel.
• Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
Other Functions • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Must be able to operate equipment used in playground activities; and adhering to safety practices. Must have knowledge of age appropriate activities; safety practices and procedures. Must be able to adapt to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; working as part of a team. Purpose Statement: The job of Special Education Aide - Resource was established for the purpose/s of assisting assigned teaching personnel in the supervision and instruction of special education students; performing classroom clerical tasks; and assisting students by meeting special health care needs and developing students' daily living and behavioral skills.
Essential Functions • Adapts classroom work under the direction of the teacher for the purpose of providing a method to support and/or reinforce lesson plans. • Assists in job coaching activities (e.g. work skills, filling out applications, preparing for interviews, following up on job leads, etc.) for the purpose of supporting teachers and promoting student success. • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. • Confers with parents for the purpose of assisting in evaluation of students' progress and/or implementing students' objectives as requested. • Implements under the supervision of the teacher, instructional behavioral programs in accordance with lesson plans for the purpose of assisting the teacher in improving students' academic success through a defined course of study. • Maintains students' files/records for the purpose of documenting activities and/or providing reliable information. • Monitors individual students, classroom, library, playground activities, etc. for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment. • Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, copying, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the teacher and/or administrator in providing records/materials.
Experience: Job related experience is desired. Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
