A position has been declared open in the Weber School District at Canyon View for a Behavior Unit Sp. Ed. Paraeducator. This position is for 5.75 hours per day, 9 months per year. Job Description: Work under the direction of a behavior specialist to intervene with students with challenging behavior. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, engaging in the following activities with support and direction: Utilize safe and appropriate procedures when managing students with challenging behavior Interpret and implement written behavior plans, Engage in intensive teaching activities such as Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT), as well as naturalistic teaching with the appropriate use of reinforcement strategies (desired items/actions, attention, or removal of demands/aversive situations) to increase the frequency or duration of safe and appropriate replacement behaviors and to build a repertoire of communication, social interaction, and problem solving skills Utilize and model the implementation of positive behavior supports with students Utilizes, models, and fades safe and appropriate prompting procedures to promote both successful and independent responding Implements data collection systems, accurately collect and summarize data, including: A-B-C, count, frequency, duration, latency, inter-response time, event, and interval based recording Model and train school staff on the implementation of specific interventions and procedures to address problem behavior Collaborates with school team members to provide instruction and support effectively, and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment Regular work attendance is critical Implements data collection systems, accurately collect and summarize data, including: A-B-C, count, frequency, duration, latency, inter-response time, event, and interval based recording Model and train school staff on the implementation of specific interventions and procedures to address problem behavior Collaborates with school team members to provide instruction and support effectively, and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment Regular work attendance is critical

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, bending, standing, and sitting in student-size chairs) for extended periods of time Must be able to move from sitting on floor to standing position repeatedly Must be able to utilize quick body movements to maintain safety and implement student behavior plans Must be able to provide own transportation to various school settings with reimbursement provided as applicable

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS: High school diploma or equivalent Completed coursework and/or experience in education, social work, behavioral science, human development or related fields Obtain and/or maintained certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
