TheTitle II Instructional Coach: Mathematics is responsible for supporting student achievement in the area of mathematics instruction and student learning. Position objectives include working with administration and teachers to improve student achievement within the framework of the student-centered coaching model. Responsible for strengthening classroom teachers' understanding of mathematics content and helping teachers develop more effective mathematics teaching practices that allow all students to reach high standards.

The Title II Instructional Coach: Mathematics will provide professional development activities and trainings to improve the quality of mathematics instruction for students in grades 6-8; organize well-planned professional development; support teachers in mathematics instruction, assessment and intervention; support school-wide implementation of the models; model scientifically-based practices and strategies; and observe teachers in a non-evaluative setting offering feedback and promoting discussion of alternative strategies; observe and provide feedback to teachers on instruction related to concept development and mathematics instruction; remain current with scientific based research (SBRR); and implement components of the student-centered coaching model.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

To keep current with VDOE instructional resources and to support teachers and administrators with curriculum alignment (written and assessed)

To incorporate and model best-practices into the instructional models using student-centered coaching

To generate improvement in math instruction and math achievement by conducting on-site, on-going mathematics related professional development

To assist teachers in analyzing student performance data for tiered and differentiated instruction

To support school-wide progress monitoring

To distribute assessment data to the teaching staff in a usable, organized, and electronic format

To deliver Professional Development (PD) to teachers at regular intervals and attend PD, as appropriate

To model integration of concept-based strategies and best practices

To support teachers with the implementation of small group, differentiated instruction

Assists in developing, recommending, and administering the division’s staff development program

Conducts and/or facilitates staff development workshops and seminars

Models best practices in classroom instruction
