• Job Description: Work under the direction of a behavior specialist to intervene with students with challenging behavior. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, engaging in the following activities with support and direction: • Utilize safe and appropriate procedures when managing students with challenging behavior • Interpret and implement written behavior plans, • Engage in intensive teaching activities such as Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT), as well as naturalistic teaching with the appropriate use of reinforcement strategies (desired items/actions, attention, or removal of demands/aversive situations) to increase the frequency or duration of safe and appropriate replacement behaviors and to build a repertoire of communication, social interaction, and problem solving skills Utilize and model the implementation of positive behavior supports with students • Utilizes, models, and fades safe and appropriate prompting procedures to promote both successful and independent responding • Implements data collection systems, accurately collect and summarize data, including: A-B-C, count, frequency, duration, latency, inter-response time, event, and interval based recording • Model and train school staff on the implementation of specific interventions and procedures to address problem behavior • Collaborates with school team members to provide instruction and support effectively, and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment • Regular work attendance is critical
Qualifications: BASIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds • Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, bending, standing, and sitting in student-size chairs) for extended periods of time • Must be able to move from sitting on floor to standing position repeatedly • Must be able to utilize quick body movements to maintain safety and implement student behavior plans • Must be able to provide own transportation to various school settings with reimbursement provided as applicable
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS: • High school diploma or equivalent • Completed coursework and/or experience in education, social work, behavioral science, human development or related fields • Obtain and/or maintained certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
