A position has been declared open in the Weber School District at H. Guy Child Elementary for an Elementary Counselor/Teacher Aide. This position is for 4.55 hours per day, 9 months per year. Purpose Statement The job of Elementary Counselor/Teacher Aide was established for the purpose/s of assisting assigned counseling personnel in the supervision and instruction of students, and performing classroom clerical tasks in support of the instructional process. Essential Functions
• Assists counselor with tasks for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts. • Guides students in independent study (e.g. enrichment work, remedial work, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring student success. • Implements, under the supervision of assigned counselor, instructional programs for the purpose of assisting the counselor in improving students' academic success through a defined course of study. • Monitors individual students, classroom, etc. for the purpose of ensuring a safe and positive learning environment. • Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, copying, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the counselor and/or administrator in providing records/materials. Other Functions • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Must be able to adapt to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; working as part of a team. Must be able to operate standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records. Must have knowledge of common office machines; and office methods and practices. Must be able to communicate with diverse groups; being attentive to detail; meeting deadlines and schedules; adapting to changing work priorities; and working as part of a team. Must have knowledge of concepts of grammar and punctuation; and stages of child development. Must be able to communicate with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; and working with constant interruptions. Must have knowledge of instructional/tutorial procedures and practices; intervention techniques; age appropriate activities; stages of child development; and safety practices and procedures.
Experience: Job related experience is desired. Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
