Secondary ISM Mentor: Job Description: A position has been declared open in the Weber School District working at various locations inside the district. This position requires visits, observing and mentoring teachers on a scheduled basis. A schedule will be provided when hired and a new schedule will be created as the need for more mentoring arises. Under the direction of the Human Resources Supervisor or the Human Resource Director, the District Mentor is responsible for the mentoring of assigned mentees. The mentor will provide education support, offer professional development ideas, and evaluate new teacher progress. The mentor will fill out a mentor visit form on their classroom visits at least once a month. These forms will be turned in quarterly with the mentor quarterly observation form. The mentor will report back to their supervisor on each visit on their electronic visit log. Visit schedules will be given to the mentor by the Human Resource department and changes when new teachers are added or dropped from the schedule. District Mentors will check in with each school’s building administrator before making mentor visits. Building administrators may designate the secretary as the check in contact. Mentors will visit each classroom of each new teacher they are assigned. District Mentors will also attend all District directed professional development training sessions and mentor meetings along with new teacher development training's. Meetings, trainings and development sessions are required. District Mentors will be paid a monthly stipend, dependent on the number of visits and meetings attended. Stipend pay will be based on completing all job requirements, which includes recording and reporting classroom visits and attending all training's and scheduled meetings. Contracts may be renewed monthly or by each May for the following year.
Job Qualifications: District Mentors should have a minimum of five years teaching experience. Teaching experience in the Weber School District is preferred but not necessary.
