License and Certification Qualifications: Meets Georgia certification requirements in appropriate field of education with Early Childhood Education endorsement required.

Education Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from a Professional Standards Commission (PSC) approved college or university required.

Experience Qualifications: Three years of successful teaching experience with an emphasis in early learning required. Experience delivering professional learning opportunities and experience leading professional learning teams preferred.

Skills Qualifications: Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks/projects concurrently; ability to create and deliver professional learning that supports the direction of the early learning program and that supports the vision, mission, and goals of the district; strong communication skills, both in oral and written format; strong technology skills, including the Lotus Notes Database and Microsoft Office Suite programs; knowledge and application of research-based instructional strategies in early childhood; knowledge of Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum with in-depth knowledge of early childhood; knowledge of techniques for integrating curriculum, GCPS policies, and effective instructional practices; ability to work successfully with colleagues; ability to work with parents; ability to project and generate a positive attitude; and ability to effect change.

Primary Responsibilities: Support, develop, and coach Title I schools, specifically teachers and parents of at-risk students, to provide interventions to help students succeed academically and behaviorally.

1.        Design and deliver professional learning for the early learning program.
a.        Provide professional learning opportunities by modeling and facilitating instruction with teachers.
b.        Lead early learning team collaboration.
c.        Facilitate professional learning by modeling and coaching with teachers based on best practices for early learning instruction.

d.       Demonstrate practical application of research based, learner-centered instructional strategies including the Quality-Plus Teaching Strategies.
e.        Provide support for Local School Plans for Improvement as it relates to achievement in kindergarten.

2.       Provide support for local school leadership and instructional teams.
a.      Support school leadership and instructional teams in the development and sustainability of an effective early learning programs and interventions.
b.      Effectively analyze and use local school data to lead driven by data talks to impact student achievement in early learning.
c.      Model protocols to lead teachers in developing and implementing programs to help at-risk students to be more successful academically and behaviorally.

d.      Work with local school administrators and teachers on identifying at-risk students.

3.        Develop parent materials to support student learning prior to entering school.
a.        Create parent materials that support the readiness skills that students need to be successful in kindergarten.
b.        Provide curricular support to Parent Centers for parent transition activities.
c.        Provide information to appropriate personnel regarding current research, knowledge, and trends in early childhood education.

4.      Demonstrate content knowledge and professional growth.
a.      Engage in continual learning to deepen content and pedagogical knowledge in early childhood education and early learning including current and emerging trends/needs.
b.      Develop and improve knowledge through professional development, conferences, publications, and collegial networks

5.     Perform other duties as assigned.
