Cañon City School District RE-1 is accepting applications for SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST (.5 FTE with benefits) for the 2019/2020 school year. Salary will depend on education and experience; placement is on the Teacher Salary Schedule, with entry level candidates starting between Step 1 and Step 10.  The position requires:
 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a Colorado Special Services license, endorsed in K-12 Speech-Language Pathologist
  • Must possess a Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology or be willing to pursue a Master’s degree
  • Membership with American Speech-Language-Hearing Association assessment certification preferred or be willing to obtain
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency for Medicaid Billing preferred
  • Must have own transportation to serve multiple area schools
  • Must possess valid Colorado Driver License
  • Familiarity with CDE’s Speech/Language Severity Rating Scale desirable
  • Proven ability in administering individual, standardized assessments pertaining to articulation, semantics, pragmatics, syntax, vocabulary, and other language-related areas, as well as fluency and voice
  • Skilled in interpreting the results of standardized assessments, completing written evaluation reports, and communicating the results and implications to parents and school personnel
  • Experienced in developing specific, measurable annual goals for students ages five through twenty-one who evidence communication delays
  • Knowledge of assistive technology preferred
  • Possess skills in basic technology as directed by the District to communicate and function effectively as a 21st century employee
  • Must be highly organized and able to manage time effectively
  • Proficient in oral and written communication
  • Ability to build and maintain positive rapport with students, parents, and co-workers
  • Well-versed in principles of child development and language development
 
  
DUTIES:
  • Ability to identify students with speech or language disabilities
  • Ability to refer for medical or other professional attention necessary for the habilitation of speech or language disabilities
  • Provide speech and language services for the habilitation or prevention of communicative disabilities
  • Consultation, collaboration, and guidance of parents, teachers, and students, regarding speech and language disabilities
  • Attendance and involvement with staffings and reviews, in compliance with Federal and State rules and regulations
  • Responsible for the establishment, maintenance, revision, and review of assessments, reports, goals and objects, for students identified and served with speech and language disabilities
  • Willingness to collaborate within general education classrooms
