Position Title:Special Education Coordinator

Reports To: Director of State and Federal Programs Contract : 210 days

Job Goal: In conjunction with the Director of State and Federal Programs, the Assistant Director provides leadership to schools in IDEA, 504, Pre-K, Special Education, and the oversight of required data and student records.

Duties: Stay informed of IDEA, ESSA, and OCR policy and regulations. Serve as a consultant to special education staff and building administration regarding the IEP process, documentation, services, resources, referral/re-evaluation process, and knowledge of Special Education policy and regulations. Serve as a consultant to 504 coordinators and building administrators regarding the 504 process, documentation, services, resources, and knowledge of 504 policy and regulations. Assist in the coordination of professional development opportunities and training needs for special education staff. Serve as 619 Pre-K coordinator. Review and assess IEPs for compliance with the requirements of the Tennessee Department of Education and the Federal Office of Special Education. Facilitate and oversee the TCS Extended School Year services. Work closely with the Director of State and Federal Programs to assess and improve programs and services necessary. Perform other responsibilities as determined by the Director of State and Federal Programs.
