Job Description: MCSD seeks an energetic and experienced individual to fill its position of Instructional Technology Specialist. The successful candidate should be proficient in the instructional uses of technology and will be responsible for consulting with and supporting instructional staff in using technology tools and digital resources to impact student learning. The Instructional Technology Specialist will assist instructional staff in all matters related to instructional technology. In addition, they will also support designated site hardware related to the technologies used in the classroom. They will work collaboratively with the technology support team as they support the school improvement efforts to build the technology instructional capacity at each site. The specialist will be required to provide support and professional development to instructional staff at their assigned schools. Extensive knowledge, experience and successful implementation of instructional technology are required.
Essential Functions: • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, demonstrate self-discipline and initiative, follow state and district guidelines; • Collaborate with instructional staff on the meaningful inclusion of digital resources into all areas of teaching and learning; • Strong Technology Skills – Current on new instructional technologies and their use in the classroom and willingness to continue to learn additional technologies; • Ability to coach, mentor, and teach adults; • Provide timely, thorough and high quality support to schools on their instructional uses of technology and digital resources, through personal campus visitation, observation, coaching and mentoring; • Develop, promote, and coordinate curriculum designed specifically to integrate the use of digital information resources and web-based projects into existing instructional offerings; • Facilitate effective use of learning time by providing professional development related to: o Maximize increased instructional technology time focused on student academic needs; o Provide professional development that ensures student engagement when providing differentiated re-teaching and focused interventions utilizing instructional technology; and o Integrate curriculum areas to strengthen key concepts across all subject areas using technology. • Collaborate with teachers to support their use of technology in delivery of curricula through a variety of instructional methods. In partnership the Instructional Technology Specialist and the teacher will work toward integrating the use of hardware, software and Internet resources in support of student learning; • Create learning resources for teachers, staff and students. These may include Web sites, tutorials, interactive programs, etc., that support teachers in integrating technology; • Support & maintain technology devices & peripherals at designated sites; • Perform all other duties as assigned. Essential Skills: • Self motivated and directed; • Effective interpersonal skills & relationship-building skills; • Extensive knowledge of teaching techniques, curriculum and staff development; • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language; • Have clear goals and strategies for integrating technology into instruction, and familiar with methods for integrating technology into the curriculum; • Research, evaluate and communicate information to a variety of audiences; • Evaluate non-traditional instructional programs especially online and computer based • Facilitate training, user groups, focus groups, and project teams • Strong written and oral communication skills – Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of settings; Minimum Qualifications/Job Requirements: • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in computer science/information technology or a related area of study and/or demonstrates the skills of instructional technology competencies evidenced by effective classroom implementation • Colorado Teacher’s Certification
