LEA Position – Competitive Salary with Signing Bonus M, T, TH 8am-4pm; W 8am-5pm; F 8am-2:00

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Planning and Preparation • Demonstrates knowledge of the Utah Core standards and how it aligns with the curriculum and special education goals • Understands overall diversity of assigned families and individual characteristics of students/parents; specifically, how this impacts student growth

Instruction and Student Achievement • Designs and provides Specially Designed Instruction • Maintains regular contact with students on case load and families via telephone, email, and instructional sessions • Differentiates instruction and provides specialized support that leads to student achievement • Tracks students’ progress, achievement and attendance • Evaluate data on student growth (grade level core) and meeting IEP goals and objectives through the PLC process • Prepares students for state required testing (accommodation in place prior to being assessed, benchmark assessments) • Collaborates with general education teachers on ensuring accommodations are provided in classroom and during LEA, State and National assessments • Collaborates with general education on the implementation of IEP goals in all tiers of instruction • Completes Quarterly Progress Reports for students on case load • Models and provides coaching to Behavior Technicians and paraeducators on instruction (how, what, when) and data collection

A Tiered Approach ? Tier 1 – May include co-teaching in the general education classroom to provide clarity and differentiate the instruction of the grade level core standards. ? Tier 2 – Targeted re-teaching of grade level core standard during Advisory/Intervention to aid in student growth (comprehension/retention/proficiency.) ? Tier 3 – Provide targeted, intensive specially designed instruction to scaffold learning to ensure student growth on core standards. This may occur in the general education classroom, a directed studies class, during intervention time or during pull out. This tier includes academics, transition, speech, OT, counseling, social emotional regulation and executive functioning skills. Professional Responsibilities • Is knowledgeable and actively participates in activities related to meeting the goals set forth in the Summit Academy Improvement Plan (SAIP) as well as the Utah Program Improvement Planning System for Special Education (UPIPS) • Provides modeling and coaching and to Behavior Technicians in correlation and collaboration with the Behavior/Social/Emotional Coordinator • Provides modeling and coaching and to Counseling Technicians when requested by the supervising Licensed Clinical Social Workers • Provides modeling and coaching to general education teachers regarding behavior strategies when requested to collaborate with building Child Find Specialists • Collaborates with special education teachers and paraprofessionals regarding scheduling behavioral supports ensuring time is used efficiently (shared responsibilities as needed) when requested by Special Education Coordinators through the Behavior/Social/Emotional Coordinator • Assists with developing Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans to be considered by IEP Teams • Progress monitors student growth in coordination with support staff • Serves as a contributing and collaborative member of LEA behavioral support/intervention committees • Maintains and ensures compliance with special education files including referrals, eligibility determination, IEPs and 3-year evaluations, SCRAM Updates • Participates in LEA Professional Development and faculty/staff meeting • Provides guidance to manage behavioral crisis situations, models interventions, provides staff training, and guidance in the development of crisis plans • Collaborates and models behavioral supports for students in the LEA Intensive Supports Classroom • Collaborates in Professional Learning Communities in both special education and general education teams
