REPORTS TO: Principal SUPERVISES: N/A TERM: 10 months Goals: The responsibilities of a drama educator are: creating lesson plans, teach students about plays and the history of drama, assisting students in creating their own dramatic pieces, organizing and managing the learning environment, directing a yearly production
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Job Description: Drama Teacher 1. Provide an instructional program that is differentiated. 2. Commitment to high student achievement & support for all students. 3. Knowledge of the subject matter being taught. 4. Ability to exercise various teaching strategies to increase students’ critical thinking skills 5. Create a secure classroom climate. 6. Teach acting principles and techniques. 7. Direct plays for school and public performances. 8. Audition students to select cast and assign parts. 9. Teach elements of stagecraft, stage makeup, costume craft, play writing or play direction. 10. Rehearse and drill students to ensure they master parts. 11. Plan, develop, implement, and monitor with student success as your goal. 12. Use available technology in your lessons. 13. Communicate effectively with parents and students. 14. Assist with others duties as assigned by the Principal
