POSITION: Culinary Arts
REPORTS TO: Principal SUPERVISES: N/A TERM: 10 months A culinary arts teacher trains students to become chefs and food service professionals. He or she maintains a learning environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, show respect for the teacher and classmates and learn about the culinary arts in great detail. Instruction involves hands-on participation from the students so that they develop a firmer understanding of the practice. A culinary arts teacher modifies instruction, as needed, to meet the needs of all students.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Job Description: Culinary Arts
1. Prepare materials and plan instructions appropriate to each assigned class, which is aligned to the Tennessee State Standards. 2. Commitment to high student achievement & support for all students. 3. Knowledge of the subject matter being taught. 4. Provides related instruction with field experience and cooperative work, or other occupational experience that is appropriate to the career objectives of the student. 5. Ability to exercise various teaching strategies to increase students’ critical thinking skills
6. Create a secure classroom climate. 7. Communicate relevant real-world experiences to the students 8. Use available technology 9. Actively participate in professional improvement activities. 10. Maintain an environment which is conductive to learning with particular attention to safety practices, good housekeeping, appropriate instructional aides, textbooks, supplies and equipment, and student behavior. 11. Assist in other duties assigned by the principal.
