Elementary School Counselor
Description
Work with a dedicated and caring faculty and staff to support a diverse student population from preschool age through 8th grade. School counselors assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of a school’s counseling and guidance program to meet the individual and diverse needs of all students through individual planning and responsive services
Coordinates and collaborates with teachers and other school personnel resource specialists and/or community (e.g.Special Ed resource staff, Courts, child protective services, etc)
Counsels students, parents, and guardians to enhance student success in school
Develops a variety of programs for providing information to assist students in difficult situations and successful school transitions
Monitors students’ progress for the purpose of identifying issues and taking appropriate action for increasing student success.
Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the school
Prepares a variety of materials (student activities, correspondence, audits, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
