Range starts at $12.47/hour
Review/Revised Date:            Feb 2010 / Apr 2014 Work Year:   164 Days/26 hours/week
 
SUMMARY: Provide additional classroom assistance and support due to a significant safety, health and medical, and/or access to learning environment need of one or more students in a preschool classroom.  This position is to provide support as determined by the classroom teacher and/or special education support team.

Job Responsibility Descriptions
  1. Assist in supervision indoors and outdoors.  Encourage independence and safety in children throughout the daily routine.  Use positive techniques of guidance outlined in program expectations. 
  1. Assist in planning and implementing the curriculum and instruction to meet the children’s individual goals.  Assist in observation and assessment of preschoolers.  Encourage independence in the preschool program children.
  1. Assist in meeting safety and health needs of identified children as needed.
  1. Interact with children, adults, and families in a friendly, positive and courteous manner. 
  1. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Early Childhood experience with preschool aged students preferred
       
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Criminal background check required for hire
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds.  Lift test required at time of hire
  • Group Leader Qualified/Early Childhood Teacher preferred
  • Meet Highly Qualified guidelines as outlined in No Child Left Behind Act
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license
  • CPR, First Aid, and Universal Precautions certifications within one month of hire
  • Meet Office of Early Learning licensure requirements 

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
  • Possess enjoyment, patience and understanding in working with young children including children with special needs
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Must be flexible, reliable and organized
  • Must be a team player
  • Must maintain a professional demeanor inside and outside the classroom 

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:
  • Operating knowledge of personal computers, peripherals, and typical office equipment such as telephones, copier, fax machine, E-mail, etc. required within one month after hire
