A position has been declared open in the Weber School District at Weber Innovation High School for a Project Lead the Way Teacher (Civil/Mechanical Engineering). Looking for a member to add to our team of teachers. Teaches assigned pre-engineering courses emphasizing project based learning, utilizing PLTW curricula. Effectively implements pre-engineering curricula using the PLTW curriculum as the basis for instruction. Enhance the curriculum as appropriate using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) career cluster. Attends professional development courses required by PLTW to qualify to teach assigned courses. Support the development, integration and implementation of technical and academic curricula. Provide classroom instruction as assigned. Ensures effective evaluation of student achievement. Develop external partnerships that enhance student learning. Teaches subject matter, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education, correlated with other appropriate learning activities. Develops lesson plans, adapt curriculum to meet individual student needs, and utilize effective teaching techniques in translating lesson plans into productive student learning experiences which best utilize the time available for instruction. Utilizes computers and other technological classroom support equipment in student instruction. Controls the storage and use of district owned property; makes minor adjustments and request repairs as required. Maintains classroom organization and discipline. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere. Provides and maintains a safe and supervised environment in the classroom and the school grounds. Devises and utilizes techniques which accurately measure students' progress. Evaluates student's academic and personal growth keeping appropriate records, and prepare progress reports. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means discussing academic and personal progress; interpret school programs. Communicates and cooperates with other professional staff in academic and personal growth areas. Demonstrates professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission. Conforms to district policies including attendance, absences and evaluations. Attendance must be adequate to acceptably perform listed job functions.
Minimum qualifications include a Secondary Teacher's License, Bachelors/Degree in engineering, science, and/or related technology disciplines. background in Civil Engineering and Architecture. Mechanical systems is also highly recommended. Preference will go to those certifications. We have a great team of teachers, candidate must work well in a team setting.
