The purpose of this job is to address barriers to student school performance by connecting children and families to, and/or providing, needed clinical and social assessment and services. The School Social Worker combines knowledge of social work, mental health, education, and child development to provide varies assessment, prevention, and intervention services to support the overarching district goal of accelerating student achievement.
Maintains appropriate licensure and acknowledges that continued employment with Hamilton County Schools is contingent upon providing required documentation to validate licensure in a timely manner Provides case management including data management Conducts social/developmental histories with families Identifies needs and connects community service provider (Centerstone, Helen Ross McNabb, etc) with students and families Conducts prevention groups and other prevention activities with students Provides intervention services as aligned with school RTI-B Provides individual and group counseling services in collaboration with school personnel Makes home visits as appropriate Works with families and community agencies to develop intervention plans and/or procure goods and services necessary for student success Communicates the role of the social worker and available services to students, parents, and community Conducts research and evaluation of job functions and collects data for developing new policies and programs to enhance family and community participation in education Follows established procedures to ensure assigned areas are safe. Addresses problems in a positive, respectful manner. Maintains confidentiality. Adheres to the NASW and Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law. Upon request, provides consults and assistance to the IEP team and 504 plans Serves as the homeless Coordinator within assigned school.
