Middle School STEM/Engineering Instructor (40%) (#1565303)
Instructor will introduce students for STEM careers through Engineering by Design, an integrative STEM curriculum that uses all four STEM content areas (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) as well as English-Language Arts to help students understand the complexities of tomorrow in an authentic, problem/project-based environment. Students will study units such as Our Water, Our World, which engages learners in hands-on inquiry and design as they explore one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century: universal access to clean water; Introduction to Technology, in which students learn how technology addresses our current wants and needs; and Design and Engineering, in which students learn how technology exists to solve problems through the use of creative solutions that work best by demonstrating careful selection of resources to generate the best outcomes. Documenting of ideas through writing and sketching are important skills, and students will use an Engineering Design Journal (EDJ) to document class activities using narratives and sketches. Implementation of training for AutoDESK Inventor and/or Revit are essential elements of this program.
