The teacher will be expected to plan, organize, and present instruction that assist students in learning subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational success and social development. A set of rules and procedures should be established to handle routine behaviors in a way that does not interfere with student learning and that frequently monitors the behavior of all students stopping inappropriate behavior promptly and consistently, yet maintaining the dignity of the student. The teacher will be expected to provide students with meaningful instruction for and about health care careers. The position is designed to prepare graduates as viable competitors in the health care industry and for advanced educational opportunities. The teacher will prepare students for health science related certifications and credentials. Opportunities to develop and apply leadership, social, civic, and health care skills are provided through Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) and the Career and Technical Student Organization for health science education. Integration of the health science program with appropriate academic concepts/courses is strongly encouraged.
