Carbondale Middle School is looking for a half time (20 hrs/wk) English Language Development (ELD) teacher and crew leader for the 2019-20 school year.  

This teacher should:

* Make language instruction (e.g., vocabulary, forms, and functions) comprehensible to English learners (ELs) so that students master the foundational skills to using all forms of language as tools for thinking, learning, and communicating. 

* Have a functional and comprehensive understanding of K-12 ELD assessment within Colorado, to include the WIDA Standards Framework, WAPT and ACCESS. • Be able to provide the necessary supports for teaching ELD content standards and incorporate appropriate language functions into the products and processes of instruction is necessary

In addition to teaching language development, this teacher will be a crew leader for a group of students over the course of the year.  As crew leader the teacher serves as a student advocate, acts as the primary contact point between parents and the school, creates meaningful relationships and experiences, and monitors and supports student progress both academically and socially through engaging activities and lessons that promote strong character skills.
