                                                          Social Emotional Learning Coach

  Purpose

         The job of Social Emotional Learning Coach is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional

         program with specific responsibilites for effecting positive social and emotional learning in students; providing

         referrals to families and/or students, complying to address social and emotional learning within the student

         population; will support and implement a Multi-Tiered System of Supports and collaborate with District leaders,

         school administrators, teachers, and support staff in areas associated with trauma-informed care, mental

         health, cultural sensitivity, and family engagement.

         This job reports to Assigned Administrator

  Essential Functions

        Acts as liaison with staff, students, the public, and referral agencies for the purpose of coordinating

        serivces that support the individual student development goals.

        Collaborates with district personnel to support implementation of SEL Systems, workshops, training, in-

        service presentations, etc. in classroom management techniques and other topics for the purpose of

        developing skills and establishing effective relationships with all students.

        Collects, analyzes, and interprets behavior data for the purpose of ensuring students are provided with

        social and emotional learning opportunities.

        Develops procedures and training materials for district staff involved with social and emotional learning for

        students for the purpose of enhancing programs for students and ensuring that program operations are in

        compliance with regulatory requirements.

        Develops and Supports menu of services for Tier 2/Tier 3 systems for the purpose of enhancing programs

        for students and ensuring that program operations are in compliance with established guidelines.

        Ensures students with social and emotional behavior difficulties are provided opportunities for the purpose

        of developing appropriate social skils in a structured setting.

        Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality for the purpose of protecting all parties involved

        in social and emotional learning.

        Models flexibility in implementing best learning practices for the purpose of supporting the well-being of all

        students through responsive work inside and outside the classroom.

        Participates and/or leads PBIS team for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to

        perform functions and remaining knowledgeable with program guidelines.

        Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops and committees such as PBIS for the purpose of conveying

        and/or gathering information required to perform functions and remaining knowledgeable with program

        guidelines.

        Provides parents information for the purpose of updating them on possible behavior interventions and

        progress for their child.

  Other Functions

        Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning

        of the work unit.

     Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

     SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job

     conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering

     to safety practices and procedures; analyzing data; classifying data and/or information; physical restraint practices;

     planning and managing projects; conducting meetings; facilitating meetings; travel between sites.

     KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read

     technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to

     define issues and draw conclusions.  Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the

     functions of the job include: Practicing positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) or (PBS); practicing cultural

     competency while working collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals.

     ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and use

     basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data

     utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work

     with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with similar types of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment.

     Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent

     interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily

     perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; meeting deadlines and schedules; working

     extended hours; working with detailed information/data.

     Responsibility

     Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; leading, guiding, and/or

     coordinating others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often

     required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to effect the organization’s services.

     Work Environment

     The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional

     lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling,  some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger

     dexterity. Generally the job requires 40% sitting, 30% walking, and 30% standing.  This job is performed in a generally

     clean and healthy environment.

     Experience:           Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.

     Education:            Bachelors degree in job-related area.
