Description:  The specialist provides specialized knowledge in effective data use and analysis, and assessment practices.
 
Assessment Specialist will: 
  • Support management of district and statewide testing for all high schools
  • Provide technical support to high schools for each test, and use associated testing platforms  (ACT, AP, Utah Aspire Plus)
  • Provide test administration training, and support to high schools
  • Work directly with high school registrars and counselors regarding concurrent enrollment, AP, and ACT data
  • Work with schools and the concurrent enrollment data, and work with associated course code information for accurate reporting
  • Assist schools with data to provide support in equitable master schedule building to ensure equal access for students
  • Ensure student information and test results for all high school assessments are accurate, and are accurately uploaded to USBE
  • Provide support to high schools and district leaders regarding state mandated or district assessments
  • Guide and direct professional development for district and state assessments and instructional practices informed by assessment results
  • Assist in work associated with school district course codes for Teaching & Learning
  • Will provide technical support to high schools for the Reading Inventory test
  • Analyze course taking patterns and graduation rates and prepare reports for district leadership and high school principals
  • Develop professional development and support the overall work in Assessment & Evaluation 
Minimum Qualifications: 
  • The candidate must have at least 5 years of high school counseling experience and have a firm understanding of master schedule building, and the use of data to drive decisions
  • The candidate must have experience with College Board assessments including the ACT and Advanced Placement (AP) testing and reporting
  • The candidate must have experience with the National Student Clearinghouse data and reporting
  • The candidate must have a Utah Educator License, the ability to work well with others in a team setting and have strong presentation skills.
  • The candidate must have capability to analyze data, and present that data to schools and principals, and to district level leadership
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
Experience with the NCAA Student Clearinghouse; Ability to model data and analyze data suing SPSS statistical software; use of Microsoft PowerBI tools to build data dashboards; ability to use of Microsoft ACCESS for data management.
 

 

    Work Environment Requirements:
    1. Risks found in the typical work environment which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations.
    2. Maintains regular and predictable attendance for the purpose of fulfilling job requirements efficiently. Will be required to attend activities, events, and meetings outside of normal work hours on a regular basis.
